Blissfully...

And while it's 35 degrees outside in the Paduan heat and humidity, here I am holed up in the workshop modelling dreams of marine freedom in clay and listening to a fabulous audio book on the Renaissance, ‘Ingenuity and Darkness’, narrated by the writer @robertomercadini himself. The narrator is also a poet and playwright and it is a real treat to listen to him.

Technical notes: the sculpture is hand-modeled in pink clay and decorated with engobes and enamels. He faced two firings at 960° and 980° degrees.
The sculpture underwent two firings.

The sculpture is hollow.

The face is as small as a hazelnut and modelled by hand. The curls are applied one at a time and are made of delicate strips of clay rolled up on themselves.

The girl's skin is left in natural clay.
