Waiting for Vincent

180,00

Inspired by Vincent Van Gogh's work ‘The Room at Arles’.
I would have loved to have met him!
I imagine myself waiting for him in his room in Arles. I know he will return after capturing en plain air the sparkle of a starry sky or the warm yellow of sunflowers in the fields. As I sit and look around, I see a tidy and very simple room, despite the beautiful colours and the enveloping light, it gives me a feeling of great loneliness. It seems to express the painter's soul, too sensitive, too lonely.

Technical notes
The sculpture is hand-modelled in pink clay, decorated with engobes and glazes.

It faced two cooking processes at 960° and 980°

The face is as small as a hazelnut and modelled by hand. The curls are applied one at a time and are made of delicate strips of clay rolled up on themselves.

The skin is left in natural clay, while the coloured parts have been painted with different hues of engobes (slips) in order to create delicate nuances and plays of colour. I really like playing with colours and decorations.

I applied glossy and satin enamels
